Clear aligner therapy, such as Invisalign, has made many advancements over the years and can now be used for most patients as well. A digital scan is taken of your teeth and Dr. Fernandez will be able to digitally treatment plan your case based on your x-rays, digital scan, and photos. The aligners, also known as trays, incrementally move your teeth. The trays are removable and should be worn 20-22 hours of the day. Small tooth-colored attachments may be cemented to your teeth to provide extra anchorage to better move your teeth. In addition, interproximal reduction (IPR) may be done to slenderize some your teeth should additional space be needed.

Brushing and Flossing

Because your aligners are removable, brushing and flossing are much more simple compared to brushing and flossing with braces. We recommend always brushing your teeth after your meals and cleaning your aligners prior to placing them back in your mouth. Doing so will help maintain cleaner teeth and clear looking aligners.

Sports

Play sports? No problem. You can easily continue wearing your clear aligners during sport activities. If you do require a mouthguard for a contact sport, we recommend using Shock Doctor in conjunction with your clear aligners. We do not recommend using the boil and bite mouthguards as they will prevent your teeth from moving and will negate the positive effects of your orthodontic treatment.
